Het was 3 mei 2001 dat ik Mercedes Sosa voor het eerst heb meegemaakt. In het concertgebouw in Amsterdam en wat een grote vrouw, wat een grote stem en wat een verhaal! Ik kon de tekst niet verstaan maar de ondertoon die kwam recht bij mij binnen. Maar Gracias a la Vida vind ik wel één van de mooiste liedjes die zij ooit heeft gezongen.

Spotify – het nieuwe kijk- en luistergeld

Een maand geleden zocht ik nog binnen de beperkte mogelijkheden van de Spotify-applicatie naar mogelijkheden zoals het goed kunnen beheren van afspeellijsten. Ondertussen is er nieuwe software verschenen en is het mogelijk om allerlei Apps toe te voegen die de mogelijkheden van Spotify alleen maar vergroten! Alleen, sommige muziek één keer en nooit meer… maar waar kun je dat aangeven? Ik heb het niet kunnen vinden. In Last.FM is die mogelijkheid wel aanwezig.

Binnen de applicatie Spotify kun je via ‘App finder’ onderdelen toevoegen aan de functionaliteit van Spotify. Kortom een verbetering!

Uiteraard kun je de gratis versie van Spotify gebruiken maar ondertussen maak ik toch wel gebruik van een Premiumversie van Spotify zodat ik ook mijn muziek offline kan beluisteren en kopiëren op bijvoorbeeld een iPod. Het voordeel t.o.v. iTunes store is dat ik nu toegang heb tot een onnoemelijke hoeveelheid muziek die ik dus ook kan kopiëren terwijl iTunes de muziek verkoopt alvorens je het kunt beluisteren.

Al Jarreau en Koffiemelk

Vanochtend las ik dat Al Jarreau in het ziekenhuis ligt, de 70-jarige zanger was bezig met een toer door Europa en heeft problemen met z’n ademhaling. Ooit heb ik een documentaire gezien (volgens mij van Ivo Niehe) waarin hij het nummer Roof Garden zingt, voordat hij dat zong spoelde hij eerst z’n mond met een beker koffiemelk (!!!) om z’n stem en mond compleet los te maken en lekker te laten klinken.
